The RTA team worked with Apostle Productions and IFC to compose the theme and score as well as music supervise their new comedy TV series “Maron.” We worked with Anthony Roman (Radio 4, Orange Cassettes) and Anthony Rizzo (Garden Variety) on the theme for the show and the original score while also syncing multiple artists from the RTA record label in the soundtrack. We released a vinyl version of Maron’s Season One soundtrack featuring various licensed tracks and the theme song. The show is currently in its third season with RTA.
IFC has brought comedian and podcaster Marc Maron to the small screen this spring with a new ten episode scripted comedy series titled Maron. Based on Marc’s life and successful WTF podcast, each half hour episode chronicles Marc’s day-to-day struggle to maintain relationships other than the ones with his podcast audience and his beloved trio of cats.
Maron is a record collector. He’s a part of an impassioned subculture with its own lexicon, – “A-sides, B-sides, choice cuts, first pressings” – and a camaraderie that extends far beyond what the rest of us can imagine. This album features music from the series, from the retro soul of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings to the experimental pop of Ludwig Persik and the angular indie rock of Hospitality.
Original music for the series was composed and performed by Black Iris Music, and Anthony Rizzo. Music supervision for the series was provided by Black Iris Music and the soundtrack, out 6/18 in vinyl and digital formats, was arranged and produced by White Iris Records.
